NEW DELHI: Shah Rukh fans have never had it so good. They can now have the superstar at their fingertips, literally, and for as little as Rs 20.
Welcome to the world of nail art, the latest craze at the trade fair in Pragati Maidan.
Two stalls on fashion technology are offering nail print demonstrations. But the Koreans have an edge over their Chinese counterparts, thanks to the Indian touch.
Their designs range from Indian matinee idols like SRK to WWF wrestlers, while the Chinese have only motifs and figurines drawn from their culture.
But it's the novelty of the concept that is drawing the crowds to the stalls. "You can choose the print from among thousands of designs. The machine prints the design on your nails, which will last a week if a special oil is applied," explained Wang, a Chinese volunteer.
His firm aims to export the machines to India and the demonstration is a way of exposing Delhiites to the technology.
Wang showed how the finger is inserted into the machine, the requirement fed into the computer and on the print command, the design copied onto the nail.
It's called the Nail Art Fashion Painter, a volunteer at the Korean stall said. "It is a monitor, CPU and printer rolled into one. Thousands of pictures have already been fed into the computer and more can be downloaded, including photographs of your beloved," he added.
Both children and adults have been flocking to these stalls. Said seven-year-old Preeti, who got the image of a Pokemon printed on her nail: "This is even better than tattoos as it is not on the skin and my mother readily agreed to let me have one done."
